Whenever there is a mass shooting, you and your colleagues scramble to figure out new ways to undermine and chip away at my 2nd Amendment rights.

Why is it that when criminals kill people, your first instinct is to target law-abiding gun owners?

Instead of vilifying us, you should be empowering us to defend ourselves and our communities. The way you do that is by passing the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act.

Right now, it is impossible for any civilian to legally carry a firearm in all 50 states. It doesn't matter how well-trained they are. It doesn't matter how many carry permits they have. Nationwide concealed carry is impossible because of the country's patchwork system of gun laws.

Some states, like California, New York, and New Jersey, refuse to honor ANY out-of-state carry permits. And on top of that, 26% of Americans live in states that refuse to even issue carry permits to their own residents...

To these anti-gun states, the 2nd Amendment means absolutely nothing.

When Congress ratified the 14th Amendment 1868, they wanted to make sure that states would never be able to get away with this. The 14th Amendment gives Congress the power to force abusive states to respect the rights and liberties of their people. That is precisely what the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act is designed to do.

If you have a concealed carry permit, this bill would make it valid in all 50 states. Gun owners would still be responsible with learning the ins and outs of each state's self-defense laws, but states would no longer be allowed to discriminate against them because of where they live...

But the bill goes even further than that. It also empowers law-abiding citizens living in anti-gun states to sidestep these carry bans. A New Jersey resident, for example, would be allowed to get a carry permit from Utah or Florida and then use that carry permit to carry nationwide... including in New Jersey!

This is the biggest civil rights bill to come along in a generation. This would tear down more than a century of anti-gun state-level laws and finally restore the 2nd Amendment's promise of a right to bear arms.

We have been waiting over two years for you to pass this bill. Time's up.

I am demanding that you force this legislation into the "compromise" gun bill that Democrats and Republicans are negotiating. For once, you need to stand up for law-abiding gun owners and empower us to help keep people safe.

The time to pass the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act is right now. Remember that a right delayed is a right denied. If you allow this bill to stall any longer, you will be voted out of office!
