Just days ago, a California Appeals Court threw out the firearm conviction against Jose Ines Garcia-Zarate's conviction, the 5-time deported illegal alien who killed Kate Steinle in 2015.

You see, Garcia-Zarate was in jail just weeks before the killing. With his long criminal record, he should have been turned over to ICE to be deported. But San Francisco is a sanctuary city. They refuse to cooperate with any Federal immigration investigation. So, Garcia-Zarate was released from jail and within weeks, he was being arrested for killing Kate Steinle.

Thanks to this latest insane appeals ruling, this illegal alien killer been exonerated.

We are seeing this across the country. An illegal alien in Maryland was arrested and charged with rape and assault. But when ICE submitted a detainer request so they could deport this criminal, the sanctuary county released him instead.

This is insane. But sanctuary cities, counties, and states are allowed to get away with this because of loopholes in Federal law.

Right now, there are no strings attached to Federal law enforcement grants. Every year, sanctuary cities collect billions of dollars in grants only to turn around and refuse to cooperate with the very Federal agencies that gave them the money.

It is shameful and has gone on for long enough.

Right now, you are debating the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. This bill governs how these Federal grant programs are handled. I am demanding that you use this opportunity to reassert control over these programs and crack down on sanctuary cities.

Lance Gooden's Protecting American Lives Act would make these funds conditional. If states want access to the Federal coffers, they would have to cooperate with Federal immigration investigations. It would also legally protect police officers who defy sanctuary city laws and help ICE agents anyway and it would set the mandatory minimum at 5-years for illegal alien criminals convicted of felony re-entry.

This shouldn't be political or controversial. Dangerous illegal alien criminals would be deported instead of released into society and if they are caught re-entering the United States after that, they would face a mandatory 5-year minimum sentence in Federal prison.

I don't care what it takes. You must push this through as a spending bill amendment. You simply CANNOT allow sanctuary cities to get away with this any longer.

You need to make your choice: are you going to protect the American people or will you choose to protect dangerous illegal alien convicted criminals?

You know what the correct choice is. You know who you are supposed to be serving. But if you cannot see yourself voting to protect the American people, then you must be removed from office!
