Next week, the House Judiciary Committee will start holding its first gun control votes. Two of the bills being considered are the Keep Americans Safe Act and the Assault Weapons Ban.

Make no mistake: the bill would not keep anyone safe and Feinstein's bill would ban tens of millions of the most commonly owned firearms.

The Keep Americans Safe Act would ban firearm magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds. The legislation claims that they is too dangerous for civilians to own.

When Lewis and Clark traveled across the US in 1804, they carried guns that held 20 rounds in the magazine. There is nothing reasonable about forcing the American people to abandon 19th Century firearm technology.

The bill's authors admit that this ban would make it harder for people to defend themselves. That is why the legislation exempts police officers. Only gun owning civilians would have to give up their ability to defend themselves.

The other bill -- the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019 -- is the most radical gun ban ever proposed. Whereas the 1994 ban targeted 24 guns by name, this new version would ban 204 models of firearms. It would also redefine a "pistol grip" to ban any semi-automatic rifle or shotgun that has a "grip, or any characteristic that can function as a grip."

Their idea of a "weapon of war" is any gun that you can hold in your hand... It is absurd.

And yet, your colleagues are signing onto these two ban bills. In both the House and the Senate, both Democrats and Republicans are negotiating right now over how many guns Congress should ban.

The correct answer is ZERO.

There is no compromising with people who want to make it harder for law-abiding citizens to defend themselves. When your colleagues propose a bill that would ban tens of millions of the most popular and commonly-owned firearms, there is no "middle ground" there.

You either support the right to keep and bear arms, or you don't.

But heed this warning: If you dare attack the 2nd Amendment... if you dare vote to ban ANY guns whatsoever... you will be removed from office!
