Why is it that every time there is a push for more gun control in Congress, the "solution" is to target innocent, law-abiding gun owners?

Next week, the House Judiciary Committee will hold a gun control hearing to push through a so-called Red Flag law. Lindsey Graham has also announced that he struck a deal with Democrats to advance their Red Flag bill in the Senate as well.

The legislation would use tax dollars to create a nationwide program that would help states and cities disarm innocent gun owners.

That is what is being proposed: disarming innocent gun owners.

For decades, Federal law has allowed for the government to confiscate guns from people who are convicted of felonies and violent misdemeanors or are adjudicated mentally defective. In either case, the government must prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that someone is too dangerous to own a gun before a judge would sign off on a confiscation warrant. That is how our justice system works. Americans are presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.

But these new Red Flag proposals would flip that principle upside-down. If a family member, friend, neighbor, or co-worker tells police they think a gun owner is dangerous, that hearsay would be enough to justify disarmament. And instead of the government having to prove guilt, it would be up to the disarmed gun owner to convince a judge they are innocent. If they fail, then the confiscation order is extended out to a year.

This is unconscionable. How dare you even consider this legislation?

Every state that has tried this already has seen the Red Flag laws abused. A 61-year-old Maryland man was even killed when he resisted police trying to confiscate his firearms. The man did nothing wrong, but an angry family member had turned him into police anyway to get even after a heated argument.

And now you want to make this a nationwide program? Absolutely not.

You were sent to Washington DC to defend my rights, not devise new ways to suspend or revoke them. If you won't defend the 2nd Amendment against all enemies, including some of your colleagues, then you have no business serving in any capacity.

Helping states and cities confiscate guns from innocent Americans is not a solution or a compromise. It is just another attempt to chip away at our God-given right to self-defense...

You need to understand that this is not a winning issue for you. The American people will not stand for this.

If you dare vote for any of these Red Flag gun confiscation proposals, you will be removed from office.
