Border Patrol just announced that they have completed a 60-mile section of new border wall construction in Arizona. Over the next year, more than 450 miles of NEW border wall are set to go up.

Border Patrol agents have begged you to fund these projects. They have begged you to help secure the border and keep the American people safe. But for three years, you and your colleagues have refused to allow these border construction projects to move forward.

It took a national emergency declaration from the President to break the gridlock and get these projects started. Congress tried - and failed - to cancel the national emergency and the Supreme Court has ruled that it is both legal and constitutional.

That should be the end of it. But instead, your colleagues are working behind the scenes to claw-back this funding and cancel the border wall construction projects all together.

They have slipped an amendment into Section 227 of the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act that would cancel all border wall construction during the 2020 fiscal year.

"Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no Federal funds may be used for the construction of physical barriers along the southern land border of the United States during fiscal year 2020."

You cannot allow this radical amendment to survive into the final version of the bill. This provision is so radical that it wouldn't even allow Border Patrol to repair damage to existing border fencing.

I am demanding that you kill this amendment and any other provision that would shut down border wall construction.

This is about protecting the country.

Don't you dare play politics with our national security.
