Yesterday, the Trump Administration formally withdrew from the Flores Settlement. Illegal aliens will no longer be allowed to use children as get-out-of-jail-free cards to force their way into the country.

All illegal aliens, regardless of age or family relation, will now be detained until an immigration judge can hear their cases.

When the Flores Settlement was reached in 1997, it was designed to limit suffering. But today, cartel smugglers are abducting and, yes, even buying children to use them to get into the United States. And when they get across the border, these children are usually left in the desert to die.

Instead of mitigating suffering, the Flores Settlement has created a modern day child slave trade in Central America and has only encouraged human trafficking.

President Trump's order withdraws from the Flores Settlement and abolishes the Obama administration's catch and release program. Showing up to the border with a child in-tow is no longer a guaranteed way to get into the United States. When illegal aliens turn themselves into Border Patrol or ICE, they will be detained until their court dates.

You should be working with the President on this. You should be approving more funding to hire immigration judges to make sure these cases are heard quickly. You should be appropriating funds to DHS to construct new detention facilities so that migrant families can be safely and humanely kept together. But instead, your colleagues are now mounting a Congressional Review Act challenge against the President.

They want to revoke the new regulation and make the Flores Settlement permanent.

You CANNOT allow this to happen!

I am demanding that you derail and kill this new resolution. Whatever it takes, you must protect this new immigration order and give President Trump the tools necessary to defend and secure the border.

If you won't work to secure the border... if you dare vote against the President and try to restore the Flores settlement... I promise that I will not rest until you are removed from office.
