As a Member of Congress, you are not allowed to infringe on my rights. The 2nd Amendment, for example, uses the phrase "shall not be infringed" for a reason. The People have a right to keep and bear arms and government cannot violate that right.

But the 2nd Amendment doesn't restrict private businesses and organizations. There are countless gun control groups that are actively lobbying to try to eliminate the right to keep and bear arms.

Now, a number of your colleagues are trying to give these radical gun control organizations even more power, and you must stop them!

In the late 1990s, gun manufacturers were on the brink of bankruptcy. Anti-gun groups, aided by the Clinton administration, were trying to sue the industry out of existence. Essentially, every time a gun was used in a high profile crime, activists tried to hold the gun industry legally responsible for that crime.

Congress passed the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act in 2005 to put an end to this and give gun stores the same protection as other industries. When someone uses a hammer to kill someone, the victim's family isn't allowed to sue Home Depot or Lowe's. The PLCAA applies the same logic to the gun industry.

Recently, some of your colleagues introduced a bill to roll back these protections. They introduced the Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act, a short one-page bill that would re-open the door for more frivolous lawsuits. Their goal is to accomplish through the courthouse what they have failed to win through the Capitol building.

Congress has refused to pass the Assault Weapons Ban, and for good reason. But if this new bill passes, then gun control organizations would be allowed to target companies simply because they manufacture semi-automatic weapons. And if the companies don't agree to "self-regulate" according to the Left's demands and stop manufacturing or selling certain guns, then they would be sued into bankruptcy.

You need to kill this bill.

If you won't stand up and defend my right to keep and bear arms, then I will not support you any longer, I will not donate to your campaign, and I will not vote for you.

Please, honor your oath and kill this radical backdoor gun ban!
