The Supreme Court has ruled that Donald Trump can begin border wall construction using reprogrammed Pentagon funding. The 5-4 ruling states that Trump's national emergency is legal because Congress has not explicitly denied funding to the border wall.

Already, many of your colleagues are scheming to undo this ruling and shut down the border wall construction before it can even get started.

I am DEMANDING that you defend Trump's border wall national emergency and kill the amendment designed to deny the funding.

Section 8127 of the House of Representatives' Department of Defense Appropriations Act would pull the plug on border wall construction for good.

"None of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available by this Act or any prior appropriations Acts may be used to construct a wall, fence, border barriers, or border security infrastructure along the southern land border of the United States."

Not only would this govern funding in Fiscal Year 2020, but it would claw back the funding that Trump has already reprogrammed. If this bill passes, border wall construction will immediately be cancelled.

The amendment's sponsors know that if they can get this provision into the final version of the bill, they can block border wall construction for the remainder of Trump's term. That is why they have tacked it onto a must-pass spending bill...

They don't care about what this would do to the country. Even just a couple of years ago, both Republicans and Democrats agreed that new border wall construction was necessary. It only became controversial after Trump won...

This shouldn't be partisan. Border security and national security should not be partisan.

Let me be absolutely clear: you must kill this amendment. I don't care what it takes, you cannot allow this provision to make it into the final version of the bill.

This is our chance to finally secure the US-Mexico border. This is our chance to finally crack down on drug and human trafficking. The Supreme Court has authorized the project and the Trump administration is already hiring contractors. The construction will get under way in just a matter of days.

Any Congressman or Senator who dares try to shut this project down will be removed from office. That is not a threat... it is a promise.
