President Trump ordered the Department of Homeland Security this week to change how they handle "credible fear" asylum claims. Right now, 90% of all asylum claims are being denied in the courts.

Economic migrants are showing up at the border and committing asylum fraud in order to gain entry into the United States.

As you know, in order for someone to be eligible for asylum, they need to have a credible fear of facing targeted persecution in their home country for political, ethnic, religious, or racial reasons.

Trump's new order stipulates that if someone is truly fleeing for their life, then they must apply for asylum in every single safe country that they travel through and stay in the first country that accepts their application. For example, right now there are an estimated 30,000 African migrants marching through South and Central America. Their goal is to claim asylum at the US border. But if a migrant claims they are fleeing targeted persecution in their native Cameroon or Congo, they would be safe from that persecution the minute they landed in Brazil or marched through the other 7 countries en-route to the United States.

This is common sense. Even Barack Obama understood that asylum fraud like this was putting the country at risk.

So why are you letting Nancy Pelosi and her allies sabotage this new plan?

Democrat leaders are working on a new DHS amendment that would cancel Trump's new regulation. It would stipulate that in order for DHS to receive Federal funding, they would have to re-adopt the asylum regulations in place at the end of the Obama administration, just days before Trump took the oath of office.

It would be like Trump never won and Obama never left...

This is a gross abuse of Congress' appropriations powers and you know it. We are facing a true invasion at our southern border. Migrants are taking advantage of our asylum system to force their way into the country. And the Left's plan is to force Trump to go back to the Obama administration's open border and catch-and-release policies?

No way.

I am demanding that you pass a clean Homeland Security Appropriations Act. No amnesty strings attached... no attempts to block the President from enforcing our immigration laws... just a clean spending bill that gives the Trump administration the funding to fully secure the border.

You need to understand that you work for me. Not illegal aliens... Not fraudulent asylum applicants... You represent the American people. If you prefer to serve these illegal aliens, then you will be voted out and removed from office!
