Congress is set to get a massive pay raise this year. Pelosi and Republicans are working together to protect these pay raises and make sure they go into effect.

If it goes into effect, Pelosi would make $228,000. Republican leaders Kevin McCarthy, Steve Scalise, and Mitch McConnell would increase their pay to $197,900.

The most disgusting part of this is that Congress thinks they have earned a pay raise...

Rank and file Members of Congress would be paid $178,500 starting next year. Nancy Pelosi would make $228,000 and Republican leaders Kevin McCarthy, Steve Scalise, and Mitch McConnell would increase their pay to $197,900.

This is obscene.

Congress has spent two-thirds of the year so far out of session. When you were in session, you only managed to get 20 pieces of legislation signed into law. If you were doing your job, that number would be north of 100...

And now you want a pay raise? Absolutely not.

In 2009, Congress froze its pay increases for a decade. That provision expires at the end of the year and the automatic pay raises go back into effect if you do nothing.

Congressmen Jared Golden (D-ME) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) have introduced a one-sentence amendment blocking the pay raises from going into effect next year. Pelosi and the House leadership have responded by moving up the vote on the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act to this week.

The leadership in both parties are going to try to block this amendment from coming to a vote. They are also going to try to force you to vote the amendment down and support their pay raise plan.

If you do this, you are finished.

If you want a pay raise, then you need to earn it.

This isn't about politics. I don't care whether you have an (R), (D), or (I) next to your name. If you allow this raise to go into effect, you will be primaried and removed from office.

Vote for the Fitzpatrick Amendment or I swear you will regret it.
