The American people are incredibly divided. Social scientists suggests that the divide is worse than at any point since the Civil War.

But there is one thing that Americans on both sides agree on: term limits for members of Congress. 82 percent of all Americans want some form of term limits imposed on the legislative branch.

There are a number of different proposals out there. One would cut Congressional salaries and benefits if a Congressman or Senator 'serves' for too long. Others, like the Ted Cruz's S.J.Res 1, would place hard caps Congressional term lengths. Another bill being passed around would allow Congressmen and Senators to serve as long as they want, but not in consecutive terms.

Career politicians are destroying this country. We can debate the best way to solve this, but the point is we must have the debate. Your party's leadership is refusing to let that debate move forward.

It isn't all that surprising. Of course Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell don't want to debate term limits, They have each held office for over 30 years and have net worths in the tens of millions of dollars.

The very politicians that get to decide whether this term limit resolution gets a vote are the ones who have profited the most from making a career and fortune out of their "service."

You and I both know that career politicians aren't bringing fresh and new ideas to the table...

Ted Cruz's bill would limit Congressmen to three terms and Senators to two terms. And to give you a chance to plan your for your future, the clock wouldn't start ticking until the amendments pass. This is more than fair.

Term limits will happen. The American people demand it. If you won't take up the issue, then we will be forced to use Article V of the Constitution and take you out of the process entirely.

I am demanding that you hold a debate on S.J.Res. 1 / H.J.Res. 20 and vote on it. If you won't stand for the American people, you must be removed from office.

You need to answer a very simple question: do you serve the American people or yourself? Make your choice...
