The Founders wrote the 2nd Amendment specifically to protect us against this. They knew that a day would come when politicians would try to revoke Americans' gun rights. This is apparently that day...

Extreme Risk Protection Orders are blatantly unconstitutional. They allow for gun confiscations based on nothing but hearsay. We are already seeing how these laws are being abused in the states that have already enacted them.

Police and prosecutors are using these powers to confiscate guns from Americans who haven't committed any crimes. They are literally suspending people's gun rights without charging them with a crime.

Vengeful exes, family members, and neighbors are also using these 'red flag' laws to turn gun owners into police. Simply claiming that they think someone is dangerous is enough to justify a disarmament order.

The 2nd Amendment exists to make sure that gun owners never need to prove they deserve the right to defend themselves. The right exists to make sure that the burden of proof rests with the government to prove that someone is too dangerous to own a gun.

Extreme Risk Protection Orders turn that completely upside down. It is the disarmed gun owner who must prove his or her innocence. Prosecutors don't even need to charge them with a crime to get the confiscation order extended to a year...

You swore an oath to defend the Constitution. That includes the 2nd Amendment. You must stand up for my right to keep and bear arms for self-defense. You have an obligation to kill this "compromise" gun confiscation bill. You cannot allow it to move forward and you certainly cannot allow Republican leadership to add more gun control provisions to try to win support from your gun control colleagues.

The government already has all of the tools it needs to disarm dangerous individuals.  Extreme Risk Protection Orders are not the answer. Giving the government the power to disarm innocent people is not the answer.

As I said, this is precisely why the 2nd Amendment was written and if you can't see that, then you are the one that the Founders warned us about...

If you dare vote for Graham's bill, or any other Extreme Risk Protection Order proposal, I will not rest until you are removed from office.
