President Trump just declared a national emergency to secure another $7 billion in funding for border wall construction (in addition to the pathetic $1.3 billion that Congress just approved).

Immediately, Republicans in Congress started criticizing Trump's action. There are at least six Republicans who have said they would try to block the President from taking action. Democrats just need FOUR of these Republican cowards to vote with them, and they can overrule the President and block the border wall from being built!

President Trump today exercised his authority under the National Emergencies Act of 1976 and authorized his administration to repurpose funding in order to build the border wall project.

The President has the legal authority to do this. Since 1976, Presidents have used this power almost sixty times to declare national emergencies to free up discretionary funding. Right now, there are 32 national emergencies in effect, most from previous Presidencies.

Pres. Trump is right to be doing this. You and your colleagues failed to honor your oaths. You failed to protect the American people. The President of the United States is picking up the slack and doing it himself.

The President is repurposing money appropriated for drug interdiction and national security construction projects. The President is also tapping money seized from drug cartels. All of this is germane and all of it is allowed under the laws that your predecessors passed.

Right now, your colleagues are meeting to draft a Resolution of Disapproval in order to overrule President Trump's declaration.

Don't you dare try to overrule President Trump's national emergency.

You had your chance to protect the border. You failed. If you now try to stop President Trump from using his legal authority to secure our southern border, I swear you will regret it.

You were elected to serve your constituents, not to keep the border wide open for illegal alien criminals to flood into our country. If you won't fulfill this basic obligation, you will be removed from office. That is a promise.
