Cruz is demanding a vote on his bill, the EL CHAPO Act. It would use all seized drug cartel money to build the border wall, including $14 billion being seized from El Chapo's account.

The GOP leadership, however, is blocking the bill. They never wanted the border wall funded to begin with.

The border wall agreement that just came out of the conference committee is shameful. Not only does it reduce border wall funding to just $1.375 billion, but it also includes provisions to cut ICE's funding and limit the number of detention beds in their facility.

In exchange for just 55 miles of fencing, the bill requires thousands of illegal aliens to be released.

Both parties claim that there just isn't the money to fund President Trump's request.

However, Senator Ted Cruz believes there is enough money to build the entire border wall.

Cruz has re-introduced the Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order (EL CHAPO) Act. It is common sense. Not only would it seize all $14 billion of El Chapo's assets, but the legislation would also mandate that all future money seized from drug cartels go towards border security projects, including funding the border wall.

Not only is there justice to this by forcing the cartels to fund the wall, but it also provides taxpayer relief by making Mexico fund the project. This is just common sense. It funds all of Homeland Security's border security projects and doesn't cost American taxpayers a single cent.

Why won't you sign onto this bill? Why won't you fulfill your duty and protect the American people?

President Trump has already said that the $1.375 pittance for border wall funding will not be enough. He is actively looking at discretionary funds he can redirect to the project. But he shouldn't have to do this. The El Chapo act would fund the entire project.

You just need to be brave enough to pass it.

You must put country over politics and pass the El Chapo Act. If you won't protect me -- if you prioritize protecting illegal aliens over protecting your constituents -- I will remove you from office. That is a promise.
