President Trump is planning to announce his national emergency declaration tomorrow evening at the State of the Union to begin border wall construction.

He tried to go through Congress. He offered compromise after compromise, and even re-opened the government to give Democrats a chance to make a deal.

But after a week of conference negotiations, it is clear that you and your colleagues will not be funding border wall construction. Nancy Pelosi publicly swore that Trump would never even get a dollar for his border wall.

So, the President is going it alone. As you know, you give the Executive Branch billions of dollars in discretionary funding every year. Tens of billions go towards military construction projects. This is designed to allow the President and Defense Secretary to approve national security construction projects without getting tied up with Congressional appropriators.

Trump has identified $7 billion in discretionary funds that he can use to build the wall. The National Emergencies Act gives him the legal authority to do this.

Amazingly, many of your colleagues are trying to pull the rug out from President Trump. Some are even talking about repealing the National Emergencies Act to stop him. Others are even talking about pulling the funding and forcing the Pentagon to withdraw its troops from the border.

The President is talking about securing the border to keep Americans safe from the disease, crime, and drugs pouring into the country. This is common sense. But the only thing you and your colleagues in Congress seem interested in is denying President Trump a "win."

This cannot be about politics. This cannot be about winning or losing. If you can't understand that, you aren't mature enough to hold any public office.

How many more Americans need to be victimized by the crime and drugs pouring across the border before you will rise up and protect them?

The President has figured out a way to get the wall built without Congress using his powers as Commander in Chief. The wall will be built. You might as well appropriate the border wall funding the correct way. It is absolutely shameful that the President even has to consider this method of protecting the American people...

Either appropriate the border wall funding or step aside and allow President Trump to do it on his own. But I swear, if you dare try to block the wall from being built, I will remove you from office!
