Today, gun control advocates plan to unveil the biggest gun control bill in American history. Their plan is to require "universal background checks" on all firearm sales and transfers, even between private citizens.

This proposal is dangerous because it is unenforceable without a nationwide registry. The reason that background checks work at gun stores is that firearm dealers are required to report their inventory to the Federal government. Without that reporting, the background check law is unenforceable.

In order for Pelosi's universal background check to work, private citizens would have to report their gun collections to the Federal government. Otherwise, there would be no way to tell whether a future transfer is legal.

Federal law already prohibits a nationwide gun or gun owner registry. That is because previous Congresses understood that history has always proven that registration is the first step towards confiscation.

Some of your Republican colleagues want to skip that slippery slope entirely, however. Congressmen Peter King and Brian Mast are pushing Pelosi to include their red flag proposal into the package. The "red flag" bill would allow family members, friends, neighbors, and even complete strangers to turn gun owners into police for confiscations. It would then be up to the gun owner to prove that he or she deserves to get their guns back.

This plan is so unconstitutional, it would allow for confiscations without a gun owner even being charged with a crime.

Not only would courts be able to suspend 2nd Amendment rights based on nothing but hearsay, but the entire principle of "innocent until proven guilty" would be turned upside down...

You must do everything in your power to block this gun control package from passing. I don't care what it takes. If you won't stand up for your constituents' 2nd Amendment rights, then you have no business serving in any capacity.

I don't care what this bill's "intention" is. If you give the government the power to create a gun owner registry, coupled with the power to suspend someone's 2nd Amendment rights without even needing to accuse them of breaking the law, it will be abused.

Do not be fooled. This is not a compromise. This is a radical shift towards nationwide confiscations!

Any Congressman or Senator who supports this flagrantly unconstitutional proposal will be removed from office. That is a threat and a promise.
