President Trump has discovered a provision in the law that would allow him to bypass Congress and approve $10.6 billion in border wall construction projects on his own. The power is outlined in 10 USC § 2808. The President can declare a state of emergency and approve the border wall as an unappropriated military construction project.

The President has the ability to do this. So why are you still fighting him on the wall? Why would you force him to take funds away from other military construction projects to get the border wall started?

Many of your colleagues are now not only threatening to block the appropriations through the Department of Homeland Security, but also to defund this emergency military construction account.

The President is talking about securing the border to keep Americans safe from the disease, crime, and drugs pouring across the border. But the only thing Congress seems interested in is denying President Trump a "win."

This isn't about politics. This isn't about winning or losing. If you can't understand that, you aren't mature enough to hold any public office.

How many more Americans need to be victimized or killed before you wake up? How many more illegal drug overdoses and human smuggling cases do you need to see before you secure the border and stop these traffickers from just waltzing into the country?

I am demanding that you fully appropriate the border wall funding right now. The President has figured out a way to get the wall built without Congress using his powers as Commander in Chief. The wall will be built. You might as well appropriate the border wall funding the correct way.
