The only thing holding back a caravan of thousands of illegal migrants is a small chain-linked fence at the Mexican border checkpoint. Yesterday, these migrants broke down the border fence in Guatemala and rushed the border. If the Mexican border checkpoint falls too, the caravan will be at the US border in less than a day.

We're out of time.

You must immediately pass a border security bill to protect this country from this invasion. Yes, that is what this is. An invasion. The migrants are carrying Honduras flags and singing their national anthems. They're celebrating the very country they claim to be fleeing...

President Trump threatened to both cut off international aid funding to Central and South America and call up the National Guard to secure the border. But he doesn't have the statutory authority to fully execute this (and many of your colleagues have promised to block him if he tries).

But one piece of legislation before you would authorize this plan. The Fund and Complete the Wall Act is simple and common sense. It taxes illegal aliens' remittance payments and fines countries thousands of dollars in aid funding every time one of their citizens is apprehended at the US border. These fines and taxes would go into a fund that would go towards building and maintaining a border wall. Less than 5% of the funds would go towards upgrading and maintaining Border Patrol vehicles and equipment.

This legislation does exactly what Trump is demanding. It secures the border and punishes foreign countries that turn a blind eye to, or even harbor, these illegal migrant caravans. At least three-quarters of a billion dollars would be cut from our foreign aid programs and go towards border wall construction... every single year.

It is absolutely shameful that this bill, and other border security bills like it, are just collecting dust.

You cannot wait until after the midterm elections to deal with this. The migrant caravan could show up at the border in less than a day. You need to take action now!

Forget amnesty. Forget about giving illegal aliens a pathway to citizenship. This is more important. This is about securing the border and protecting the American people.

You swore an oath to defend the American people against all enemies, foreign and domestic. We are staring down a legitimate invasion. If you will not take immediate action against these caravans and all migrants trying to game our immigration and asylum systems, I will consider that a dereliction of duty and you will be removed from office!
