You and your colleagues have an obligation to defend Americans' constitutional rights.

The 14th Amendment reads that "No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property."

It concludes by saying that "The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article."

When states violate Americans rights, it is up to you to stop it.

Right now, more than 25 percent of Americans live in states that refuse to recognize the 2nd Amendment's right to bear arms. In these states, it is next to impossible for law abiding Americans to get carry permits. Even if they are law-abiding and meet all of the requirements, these states refuse to issue carry permits of any kind.

On top of this, there are 11 states that refuse to honor any out-of-state carry permit whatsoever. Law abiding Americans traveling through states like South Carolina and Illinois are forced to disarm, even if they are licensed to carry in multiple other states.

Why do you continue to allow this? Why would you step in and protect my Constitutional rights?

If you do not put the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act onto President Trump's desk before the midterm elections, you will be voted out of office. That is a promise.

This bill would grant nationwide reciprocity to anyone with a lawfully issued concealed carry permit from a state. Currently, it is impossible for any average citizen to carry in all fifty states. This bill would fix that. But it would also provide law-abiding Americans living in these carry ban states a chance to finally exercise their rights. The bill would allow for them to gain nationwide reciprocity using a non-resident permit issued by another state.

Gun reform must be a compromise. Earlier this year, you and your colleagues expanded on the background check system to make sure that criminals and the mentally ill don't fall through the cracks. You passed this provision through the last omnibus spending package.

Now that the background check system is shored up, it makes sense to protect the rights of people who pass those background checks.

I am demanding that you complete the compromise. Put the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act onto Trump's desk, by any means necessary. The Framers gave you the power of the purse for a reason. If you support the 2nd Amendment, you will use it.

If you allow the leadership to continue blocking this common sense pro-gun bill, then I will have no choice but to assume you are an enemy of the 2nd Amendment... and I will vote accordingly.
