Another tragic story of a law abiding gun owner caught up in one anti-gun state's laws. 28-year-old Haley Leach is a Colorado resident who was vacationing in upstate New York earlier this month. When she showed up to the airport to return home, she started filling out the proper paperwork to declare she would be traveling with a pistol in her checked bag.

She legally owned the pistol. She wasn't a criminal or felon. However, because she did not have a New York-issued pistol or carry permit, she was arrested on the spot for illegally carrying a gun. She has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, all because she was trying to take her legally owned pistol back home to Colorado.

This comes on the heels of another tragedy. Donna Marie Gracey is a 59-year-old Florida woman who was arrested in New Jersey for carrying a pistol in her car. She was pulled over for having "tinted windows." As she was fumbling for her driver's license, the police officer spotted her Florida-issue concealed weapons permit. He then used that as a reason to search the car and eventually found a pistol in her purse.

Her pistol permit was valid in Florida and recognized by 36 other states, but New Jersey doesn't recognize her right to bear arms. Now, she is facing multiple felony counts, all because she was exercising her right to bear arms.

Enough is enough!

The 14th Amendment was written to ensure that states honor the constitutional rights of all Americans. That includes the 2nd Amendment. A minority of states are arresting people for exercising their Constitutional right to bear arms. Under Section 5 of the 14th Amendment, the responsibility to fix these civil rights abuses falls on Congress.

You have the legislation. The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act would require all states to recognize any lawful concealed carry permit, regardless of where it is issued. Gun owners would still be required to know the self-defense and use-of-force laws in states they travel to, but no longer would gun owners be forced to disarm before entering states like New Jersey or California.

On top of that, the bill would also require states to recognize non-resident permits. 26% of all Americans live in states that arbitrarily reject carry permit applications. They live in a 2nd Amendment dead zone. This bill would allow a Californian to take the Utah carry permit class and use a Utah non-resident permit to carry nationwide -- including in California!

This is the civil rights issue of our age. You have the bill. It passed the House with a bipartisan majority but has been collecting dust in the Senate for 46-straight weeks. You need to put this legislation onto President Trump's desk, by any means necessary.

A right delayed is a right denied and if you are ok with denying tens of millions of Americans their right to bear arms, I will have no choice but to remove you.
