Two Republican Senators were all it took to pass the Democrat amendment forcing Trump to continue making the payments to the United Nations that Obama promised them.

They hoped to do this without drawing extra attention. They wanted to undermine President Trump in secret.

At the United Nations, President Trump announced that he would be cutting off funding unless the international body shaped up.

The United Nations completely ignored him. You see, your colleagues have been working behind the scenes to undermine the President and keep the money flowing into the UN's coffers.

Earlier this summer, Trump withdrew the United States from the United Nation's Paris Climate Treaty. That included cutting off the payments that Obama promised to help the UN implement its radical climate agenda.

Last week, Democrats in the Senate Appropriations Committee introduced an amendment to reverse President Trump's decision and fully fund the treaty. It should have failed. Except, two Republican Senators decided to side with the Democrats and help the amendment pass.

Senators Susan Collins and Lamar Alexander both voted to keep the United Nations climate agency funded with American taxdollars. Senator Lindsey Graham decided not to vote.

As you are well aware, it takes a two-thirds vote in the United States Senate to ratify an international treaty. Last time I checked, the 14 Democrats and 2 Republicand who voted to override President Trump's decision do not constitute a supermajority.

Former-President Obama never even bothered putting the treaty up for ratification. He knew that he would never have the votes and preferred to use his executive powers to finance the treaty and implement its provisions by executive order. President Trump reversed his actions and now a minority of Senators are trying to stop him.

This is unconstitutional.

You need to strip Senator Merkley's UNFCCC amendment from the State Department Appropriations bill and pull the plug on the United Nations climate treaty once and for all. You need to put America First.
