Yesterday, the DC Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Washington DC's concealed carry ban was unconstitutional. Because Americans have a "right to keep and bear arms," it is unconstitutional to force them to provide a good reason before being allowed to exercise that right.

There are now only a handful of states that block their citizens from exercising their constitutional rights. New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, California, and Hawaii all deliberately make it impossible for any normal citizen to be approved for a concealed carry permit. They force citizens to prove a "justifiable need" or "good reason" for needing the ability to defend themselves in public.

That is not how constitutional rights work. The DC Circuit Court rightly overturned Washington DC's "good cause" requirement. If it was applied to any other constitutional right, this wouldn't even be a debate.

Activists are rushing to appeal this case as fast as possible. If they can get it to the Supreme Court before Anthony Kennedy retires, then they can push their anti-gun policy on the entire country.

You CANNOT allow that to happen!

You need to pass the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. This legislation has 207 co-sponsors in the House. It would force states to treat concealed carry permits the same way they treat out-of-state driver's licenses.

This legislation does NOT interfere with a state's right to craft its own self-defense laws. It simply says that all states must allow all qualified Americans to exercise their constitutionally protected right to bear arms.

This legislation would overrule the Judiciary. It would make concealed carry accessible and legal for all law-abiding Americans and would tear down some of the last remaining unconstitutional state-level gun control laws.

President Trump has promised to sign the bill. I am demanding that you send it to his desk!
