Over the years, there have been a number of instances where Barack Obama's Pentagon went after soldiers to make an example of them. Every little infraction was prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and even when cases were flimsy, prosecutors still pressed forward for the maximum sentences.

We have seen officers face discharges for speaking about their faith, for shoving confessed rapists, and for even sharing classified information to warn their comrades that a base had been infiltrated by the enemy. Many of these cases were pushed to the front of the news cycle and the Obama administration was forced to let them go. Others didn't receive the same media coverage.

The Leavenworth 10 are ten soldiers currently serving lengthy sentences for "crimes" committed on the battlefield. I don't purport that they are all innocent, but many of the cases that the Obama administration made against them were riddled with holes.

Take Army First Lt. Clint Lorance as an example. He is serving a 20-year sentence for instructing soldiers under him to open fire on two suspected Taliban scouts who met the description of suspects given to him by aerial reconaissance. Though the Obama administration's prosecutors argued that Lorance had killed innocent Afghans, the Pentagon deliberately withheld biometric evidence that proved the "victims" were connected to Taliban roadside bombs.

Then there is the case of Army Master Sgt. John Hatley. In 2007, he and his unit captured enemies during a firefight in Iraq. After radioing the detention facility, he was ordered to release the detainees. Two years later, Jesse Cunningham, a man who served in Hatley's unit, was charged with assaulting an officer and falling asleep at his post. In order to save himself, he told investigators that instead of releasing the detainees, Master Sgt. Hatley had them massacred. Even though no bodies were found at the location Cunningham claimed the massacre occurred, Hatley was still convicted and sentenced to life in prison.

There are many cases like this. Soldiers who were simply doing their job and had the book thrown at them. When you hear about evidence being withheld at trial or life sentences being given without any actual evidence of a murder, it raises more questions than answers.

We all want the truth. We all want true justice. As long as these questions persist, these sentences will always be questioned.

I am calling on you to look into all of these cases and to force the White House to do the same. When you find cases of soldiers unfairly prosecuted, you need to fight for their release.

These are men who put on the uniform to defend you. It is only fitting that you return the favor and defend them!
