They are deciding whether to hear a challenge to California's concealed carry ban or whether to let it stand. These nine unelected Justices will determine whether you have a right to defend yourself in public or not.

The Trump administration is actively pressuring Congress to take up the President's agenda. One of those issues is concealed carry reciprocity. If Rep. Hudson's Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 becomes law, it would allow Americans to carry firearms in every single state in the country, even if their home state refuses to issue them a permit!

Today, the Supreme Court has gathered in conference to hear petititons. One of those petitions is Peruta v. California, a case that challenges the constitutionality of California's law banning open and concealed carry.

In 2008, the late-Justice Scalia wrote in his Heller decision that the Second Amendment is an individual right and that the term "bear arms" means "carry weapons."

Yet, today, a quarter of all Americans live in states that refuse to honor the Second Amendment. These states force residents to prove a "good reason" or "justifiable need" to exercise a Constitutional right, allowing police and judges to deny concealed carry permits at any time, for any reason.

You need to take action. Regardless of what the Supreme Court decides, you need to ensure that the right of the people to bear arms applies to all fifty states.

North Carolina Representative Richard Hudson has introduced the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017. This legislation would force states to treat concealed carry permits the same way they handle out-of-state driver's licenses. It is a well established principle that states cannot enact laws that violate the Federal constitution. These bans on concealed carry do just that, completely eliminating the right to bear arms for tens of millions of Americans.

But Hudson's bill would go one step forward. If California refuses to give one of their law-abiding residents a concealed carry permit, that person would have the right to seek non-resident carry permits in states like Utah or Florida and then use those licenses to carry in California.

This bill - which President Trump has promised to sign into law - would immediately restore the Second Amendment nationwide. States would no longer be able to violate their residents' constitutional rights any longer.

Rep. Hudson's bill has 192 co-sponsors, including a handful of Democrats. I am writing to demand that you move forward on this legislation. It is up to you and your colleagues in Congress to ensure that the entire Bill of Rights is honored and respected nationwide. The only way to do that is to pass this bill.

Any opponent of the Second Amendment's right to bear arms is an opponent of the United States Constitution and will be voted out of office accordingly...
