Last weekend, the Lake family was driving home from their vacation at Disneyland. When they were just a block away from their home, another car crashed into theirs.

The other driver was Constantino Banda-Acosta, an illegal alien driving under the influence of alcohol. His blood alcohol level was two-times the legal limit. When first responders arrived at the scene, the family's 6-year-old son was not breathing. Luckily, paramedics were able to revive him.

Constantino Banda-Acosta has been arrested and deported 15 times since 2002. His last deportation came in January of 2017, just a few months ago. Not only did he sneak back into the country, but he resumed his old life of crime.

Instead, he'll get a slap on the wrist and another deportation. He'll likely be back in the US a few weeks later.

Kate's Law would add mandatory minimums to illegal alien criminals who are deported and then re-enter the United States. It adds teeth to American immigration law and makes deported illegal alien criminals reassess whether it is worth sneaking into the country again.

We see stories like this every week: illegal aliens with criminal histories and multiple deportations victimizing innocent Americans. But this one really hits home.

Fifteen times he was deported. Yet you and your colleagues still refuse to give prosecutors the tools to keep these criminals behind bars and off the streets.

You must pass Kate's Law. This young boy's blood is on your hands. This is the direct result of your inaction.
