Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell did it. They told President Trump that they will NOT fund his border wall in this week's budget.

The President told them that he would veto any budget bill that didn't contain border wall funding, forcing a government shutdown. The GOP leadership decided that making Democrats happy is more important than keeping their promises.

GOP leadership has made its decision. Even after campaigning on building a border wall for years, and riding the coattails of a Presidential candidate who made the border wall a signature promise, Republicans in Congress are willing to unfund the project.

President Trump has asked you and your colleagues for $1 billion to upgrade existing border fencing and build an additional 60 miles of wall. This week, he delivered a message to Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell that he would be willing to let the government shut down if this funding is stripped from the final budget bill.

The GOP establishment heard his ultimatum and decided that it was more important to make liberal Democrats happy than to help the President fulfill his campaign promise.

This is shameful.

You and I both know that kicking the can down the road won't work. It won't become easier to fund the border wall next year, during an election year.

The time is now.

We the People have a very simple message for you.

The American people elected Donald Trump. They elected him on a promise to build the wall and crack down on illegal border crossings.

If you think that the path to your re-election is to undermine this President, you are sorely mistaken. If you think that the voters will look kindly on legislators who conspire to keep the border wide open, you are in for a surprise.

We the People will remove anyone from office who allows the border wall to remain unfunded.
