You and your colleagues have voted for border security in the past. Even Democrat Congressional leadership is on record voting for a fence in 2006.

The problem is that whenever a border fence or wall is authorized, it never receives the funding to get off the ground.

This is how the Democrats killed the border wall in the 1980s and during the George W. Bush administration.

Donald Trump promised the American people a border wall. He promised that Mexico would pay for it. Not up front, but through taxes and fees.

In order for the project to begin, you and your colleagues need to fund it. The administration is asking for a little more than $1 billion to begin upgrading existing barriers and begin new construction.

Some of your colleagues have decided that keeping the border wide open is worth shutting down the government over. The GOP has since decided to remove the border wall funding provision from the April budget bill.

I am writing to tell you that this is unacceptable.

No more kicking the can down the road. You need to fund the border wall and you need to do it now.

Either you vote to fund border security or you will be voted out of office.
