The Trump administration is making good on one of its promises. Sanctuary cities - cities that harbor illegal alien criminals and refuse to cooperate with Federal immigration enforcement - will no longer receive Federal law enforcement grant money.

Only cities that help enforce the law will continue to receive law enforcement funding.

If local police arrest an illegal alien with a criminal record or deportation history, then that person must be turned over to ICE. Right now, sanctuary cities release these fugitives back into society.

People are dying because of this political correctness. Police in Denver refused to turn over an illegal alien gang member to immigration agents in December. Instead, they let him walk out of jail. Within months, he was back behind bars for murdering an innocent man at a train station.

This has to stop.

The President's executive order is on solid ground. 8 USC 1783 mandates that "a Federal, State, or local government entity or official may not prohibit, or in any way restrict, any government entity or official from sending to, or receiving frm, the Immigration and Naturalization Service information regarding the citizenship or immigration status, lawful or unlawful, of any individual."

Sanctuary cities are already violating Federal law. All this executive order does is limit Federal law enforcement grants to those municipalities in compliance with all Federal laws.

But even still, this might not be enough. As we've seen with the travel ban, it takes just one liberal Federal judge to block an entire program.

You need to shore this up. There are multiple bills in Congress to defund sanctuary cities that are just waiting for a vote. Because this issue has to do with disbursing tax dollars, you can pass these bills through reconciliation.

There are no more excuses. Either you back the President up on this or I will assume that through your inaction, you support sanctuary cities and the continued victimization of innocent Americans...
