Yes, the Obama Administration Spied on Donald Trump

We now know that in August of 2016, Obama administration officials tried to get a FISA judge to approve surveillance on Donald Trump and his campaign. This surveillance request was so heinous, that it was one of just 13 such requests to ever be denied by the court.

The Obama administration returned to the judge in October, just days before the election, with a more narrow surveillance request targeting the Trump campaign and the judge approved it.

Not since Richard Nixon has a President used the intelligence establishment to spy on political rivals. This is worse than Watergate. Except unlike Watergate, there aren't any Democrats left in the White House to cover this up. There aren't any Democrats left controlling Congress to stonewall investigations.

That judge did something extraordinary: They denied the administration's request.

In three decades, the FISA Court has heard more than 35,000 surveillance requests and denied just 13 of them. One of these denials was in response to an attempt to wiretap a political rival.

Just before the election, the administration went back before the judge with a more narrow request. This filing did not name Donald Trump directly, only his associates. The Judge reportedly approved this wiretap warrant.

The Obama administration took a play right out of the Nixon playbook. They used the intelligence establishment to put surveillance on a political rival. Except unlike in Watergate, there aren't any Democrats left in the White House to cover this up.

Some of your colleagues continue to yell "Russia!" to try to distract from the fact that the Obama administration placed surveillance on the Trump campaign. This is a big deal.

I refuse to live in a country where the President and his administration have the authority to secretly place surveillance on political campaigns.

I also refuse to live in a country where elected legislators, such as yourself, cover up this kind of illegality.

The former-President's administration placed surveillance on the Trump campaign. They tried to put surveillance on Trump directly but the FISA court refused their request.

This is so far beyond Watergate...

I am writing to demand a full investigation, not into these bogus "Trump is a Russian spy" allegations, but into the fact that Obama was allowed to secretly wiretap the Republican candidate's campaign office. And when you figure out who was responsible for this, lock them up!
