This week marks the 45th Annual March for Life and 43 years since Roe v Wade. In that infamous Supreme Court decision, the Court ruled that abortion must be legal up until the "point of viability."

For the Court, the point of viability is the stage of development when an unborn child can survive outside the womb, with or without medical assistance.

While the Supreme Court pegged that point at 27 weeks gestation in 1973, medicine has come a long way since then. However, the law has not caught up to these advancements.

Right now, it is perfectly legal to kill a child who is born alive after a botched abortion. This isn't an abortion issue... this is a fight against infanticide.

You must pass the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. This bill would force doctors to provide life-saving and life-prolonging care to any child born alive after a botch abortion. I would dare you to give any excuse for why a doctor should be allowed to kill a living, breathing baby who is born alive...

I am also writing to strongly urge you to pass the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

If a surgeon needs to operate on a child in-utero, they must first administer anesthesia in order for the surgery to be legal and ethical. But loopholes in our laws would allow that same surgeon to perform an abortion and literally rip an unborn child apart, limb from limb, inside the womb.

If it is unethical to perform surgery without anesthesia after 20-weeks gestation, how can you possibly allow dismemberment abortions to continue?

A newborn's cry is a beautiful sound. It represents love and hope for the future. But right now, in abortion centers around the country, an newborn's cry means something else entirely. Far too often, it represents pain and death.

These are two bills that you must pass. They were shamefully blocked last year from moving forward.

I am writing to demand that you do everything in your power to attach these common-sense pro-life bills to the next piece of must-pass spending legislation!
