At the end of the week, Congress will vote on the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act. As you read this, GOP leadership is meeting behind closed doors to craft a "compromise" bill.

They have excluded all amendments and provisions related to religious freedom. If this bill is allowed to move forward as-is, there is no telling what damage Barack Obama could do in his last 50 days.

Without these provisions, the future is uncertain for military men and women like Lt. Col. Michael Kersten - who currently faces the prospect of disciplinary action for saying his role model is Jesus Christ.

For 7 years, Obama has tried to purge the military of its brave heroes. We have the power to make sure that he is blocked from doing the same in his last 50 days.

But that only happens if you rise up right now and DEMAND it!

It is appalling that the religious freedom amendments have been left out of the compromise version of the 2017 NDAA.

This isn't about discrimination... this is about ensuring that military men and women cannot be punished because of their religious beliefs.

Take the case of Air Force Lt. Col. Michael Hersten, as an example. To this day, he continues to face the prospect of disciplinary action because he told an interviewer that his role model is Jesus Christ.

Leftist groups have called for him to be "visibly punished" because he told the truth about his faith.

Your decision to exclude religious freedom protections from the 2017 NDAA will give Obama a blank check to persecute Christians in the military during his last 50 days in office.

He worked overtime to purge the military of men and women of faith and morals over his first 7+ years in office. Why would the last 50 days be any different?

All branches of the military require the enlisted and officers alike to "maintain high standards of honesty." But as the case of Lt. Col. Kersten shows, there are provisions that punish them if they are too honest, particularly about their faith.

I am writing to ask, no DEMAND, that you fight to include meaningful religious freedom provisions inside of this years NDAA legislation. Our service men and women put their lives on the line every day in defense of the First Amendment. The fact that it does not apply to them with regard to their religious beliefs is shameful!
