Today is Veterans Day. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, the guns fell quiet over Europe. The "Great War," as it came to be known, was over. But as the dust settled, it became clear just how many veterans were killed or gravely wounded in battle.

Because of military strategy at the time, soldiers served alongside people from their towns. So when the whistle blew and a whole squad went over the top, directly towards a machinegun nest, entire towns lost their fathers and sons. Those who returned home from the war were "shell shocked," suffering from crippling PTSD. The casualties of war were unavoidable. Everyone served and everyone was a casualty.

Fast-forward to today. We have an all volunteer army. Just 7.3% of the American population has served in the military and with that, their suffering has become avoidable.

This election was about giving voice to the forgotten man in America and there is no one who has been more forgotten under this President than the American veteran...

President-elect Donald Trump has promised to make overhauling the VA a top priority. He takes the oath of office in 69 days.

I am writing to you to beg you to spend these next 69 days crafting legislation to help our veterans so that a President Trump can sign it on day one. It is estimated that between 20 and 22 veterans commit suicide every day. Countless other pass away after receiving sub-par care. We quite literally do not have time to waste.

You and your colleagues tried to reform the VA, but all the bureaucrats responsible for this death and suffering are still there. You need to craft legislation to allow Veterans to seek care outside the VA if they are not being cared for and give a President Trump the authority to quickly clean house of all the corrupt bureaucrats who put their personal bonuses above caring for our vets.

We can do this. We can Make America Great Again. But it is going to take work.

You have 69 days to get a real VA reform bill onto Trump's desk. Do not waste this opportunity...
