Before yesterday's bodycount was even released, Democrats were pushing for more gun control.

Now that it is clear that yesterday's shooting was a terrorist attack, the Left is still trying to disarm YOU!

They want to give the Federal government the power to suspend a citizen's 2nd Amendment rights for any reason and at anytime without due process.

With yesterday's terror attack -- yes, that is what it was -- gun control proponents on the Left are already calling for more gun control.

Specifically, they want to add people listed on the No Fly List to the NICs background check system. Essentially, if someone is suspected of being a terrorist, they should be denied when performing a NICs background check.

These proposals always seem so logical, but the devil is in the details.

The Constitution says that the right to keep and bear arms "shall not be infringed." That means that the government needs a really good reason to deny someone their 2nd Amendment rights.

Courts have held that the government can suspend a citizen's 2nd Amendment rights if he or she

(1) is convicted of a felony or violent misdemeanor;

(2) has received involuntary mental health treatment;

(3) has received a dishonorable discharge from the military.

Those are the main disqualifiers.

But the point of the matter is that these disqualifications are done through due process. An individual can fight these determinations and potentially win their rights back.

People on the terror watch list or no fly list were never charged with a crime. Many don't even know they're on the lists and even if they did, there is no mechanism to challenge the ruling to get their names removed.

It would be a tragedy to allow the government to suspend a citizen's 2nd amendment rights based on nothing but suspicion.

If you give the government that power, it will be abused and Americans will have their rights trampled on. If you vote to support this measure, then you will have declared yourself an enemy to liberty.
