Every now and then, I hear something that makes me weep for just how far this great country has fallen.

Under this President, over 170,000 military veterans have had their Second Amendment rights revoked. That number has nearly doubled over the last year. How did the government arrive at this delicate decision to suspend these heroes’ rights? It left the responsibility to unelected bureaucrats who base their decision on whether or not the veteran handles his own finances.

If you think this is incredibly stupid, you’re right. Unelected bureaucrats in Veterans' Affairs are allowed to deem veterans as “mentally defective” and “incompetent” because they need help managing their finances and disability benefits.

Since when does being able to handle finances determine whether an individual can own a firearm? Since when does an individual’s mental health correlate with his or her money-handling abilities?

Federal agents tried to seize a man's firearms in northern Idaho and 100 of his neighbors came out to turn the VA inspector away. All because this veteran had a strok a year ago and temporarily needed help managing his finances and disability benefits.

You should be ashamed to allow this unlawful practice to continue. What is even worse is the fact that Obama is rolling this program out to the SSA as well, meaning that millions of retirees will be in the President's crosshairs as well.

Every breath of freedom that you take was paid for by the blood, sweat, and tears of our brave military veterans. Without their sacrifices, none of this would be possible.

And yet while they have fought for our freedoms, no one has stood up to fight for theirs!

Are you going to be the one to stand up? There is a bill introduced in the Senate that would put a stop to these illegal and unconstitutional seizures. Are you going to be the one to stop unelected bureaucrats from violating our veterans’ rights?

If not, let me know. I’ll be sure to vote for someone else…
