Cover-up: Obama Uses Executive Privilege to Withhold Benghazi Docs

This is a massive cover-up. The State Department is exercising executive privilege to stop Congress from getting a number of Benghazi documents. These withheld documents include a transcript of what Obama and Clinton discussed the night of the Benghazi attacks.

The State Department has fought tooth and nail to prevent Congress from getting any documents. They were forced by a court order to hand them over, so they are slow-walking the entire process. But now, they've begun redacting and withholding the most important documents.

Congress CANNOT allow this to happen. You CANNOT allow this to happen.

In 1974, President Richard Nixon was handed a subpoena and ordered to hand over the tapes and papers of all conversations between the President and those under indictment for the Watergate break-in.

Nixon refused. He claimed that executive privilege protected the contents of the tapes and gave him the authority to refuse the subpoena.

The case went all the way to the Supreme Court, which ruled decisively against the President. They ruled that no President has the right to use executive privilege to interfere with a criminal investigation.

But Obama has done exactly that. He withheld communications between the White House and Eric Holder to stop the Contempt of Congress investigation from going anywhere.

Now, the State Department is withholding some of Hillary Clinton's Benghazi emails because they contain "important executive branch institutional interests."

Of these withheld documents? A transcript of the conversation Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama had the night of the attack.

That entire transcript has been redacted.

Right now, Congress is exercising its responsibility to oversee the executive branch. The American people have a right to know why the President of the United States and Secretary of State decided to leave four brave Americans to die. Make no mistake, they left them to die.

You have an obligation to get to the bottom of this and in orderto do so, you are going to need to use every single tool at your disposal, including subpoenas and, if necessary, Contempt charges. But the fact is that you must act. Every day you delay is another day this cover-up is removed from the news cycle.
