Like Clockwork, Democrats Introduce New Gun Control

How predictable. We're barely 48-hours removed from the Charleston shooting and Democrats are already pushing for more gun control. Even though the shooter used neither an "assault weapon" nor a "high capacity magazine," and even though he also passed a background check, Democrats still want more gun control.

The Left is pressing hard for the Handgun Purchaser Licensing Act of 2015. This bill would force all Americans to get permission from law enforcement before they're allowed to buy or own a handgun.

The Democrats' mantra is 'don't let a good tragedy go to waste.' Unfortunately, it is up to us to defend the Republic against this latest unconstitutional gun control push!

Barely 48-hours later, Democrats are already using the Charleston attack to further their gun control agendas.

Yesterday, President Obama gave a brief speech responding to the attack. “We don’t have all the facts, but we do know that once again innocent people were killed in part because somebody who wanted to inflict harm had no trouble getting their hands on a gun.”

Oh yes, blame the gun.

Well, let’s look at the facts, shall we?

According to the latest reports, the shooter bought the gun on his own from a licensed gun dealer. That means he passed a background check.

The gun wasn't an "assault weapon," nor did it have a "high capacity magazine."

None of the gun control laws pushed in 2013 would have stopped this. Yet, some of your colleagues are pushing forward anyway.

They are calling on Congress to pass the Handgun Purchaser Licensing Act of 2015. This bill would force law-abiding to ask the government for permission before being allowed to own or purchase a handgun.

The State of New Jersey has a system like this. Just this past month, a woman was killed by an ex-boyfriend in her driveway. She had a restraining order against him, but she wasn't allowed to own a gun. She had been waiting 43 days for permission to buy one.

This is the reality of gun control. Criminals and psychopaths will continue to find a way but us law abiding citizens will have our hands tied behind our backs.

You must defeat this legislation and ensure that it doesn't go anywhere. And when the President uses his executive orders to go after the Second Amendment (which he surely will do), I expect you to hold the line.
