Tonight is the night.

When the clock strikes midnight, the most unconstitutional domestic spying programs in the PATRIOT Act will expire and be sent to the ash heap of history where they belong.

But Mitch McConnell is forcing a last minute vote to renew these programs and the Senate Majority Leader believes he has the votes to get the bill passed.

If you take a stand on any issue this year, I pray that this is the one. Demand that Congress vote NO and allow these horrible and unconstitutional domestic spy programs to expire!

At midnight tonight, the most heinous PATRIOT Act domestic spy programs will expire.

I implore you to allow them to expire. Do not be swayed into voting for the USA Freedom Act. Like the PATRIOT Act, this legislation was named to pull on your heartstrings. But this bill is anything but free and is definitely not in the best interest of the USA.

The Constitution is clear: if the government suspects someone of committing a crime and wants to search their effects, they need a warrant. Not a general warrant, which is what the British Colonialists used to search entire American neighborhoods, but a warrant specific to the individual they suspect.

If the USA Freedom Act is passed, the NSA and other three-letter government spy agencies will still have the power to seize the phone and internet records of millions of Americans at a time.

The intelligence establishment was clear: these PATRIOT Act programs have not stopped a single terrorist attack. Not one.

Benjamin Franklin famously wrote that "those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither..."

For the last decade and a half, we have given up our privacy and it hasn't made us any safer.

Let's end this experiment with violating the 4th Amendment and allow these unconstitutional programs expire. I am scoring this vote. A vote for the USA Freedom Act or a clean PATRIOT Act renewal is a vote against the Constitution and anyone who votes against the Constitution will hear from us during the next primary...
