For almost 40-years, Congress has prohibited the Federal government from using taxpayer money to fund abortions. Known as the Hyde Amendment, this legislative provision has been introduced every year since 1976 and signed into law.

Now, the GOP is trying to renew the ban on federally funded abortions, but Harry Reid and the Democrats are blocking it.

What used to be a bipartisan opposition to federally funded abortions has now become a rallying cry for the Democrat party. That is how far left the Democrats have moved...

For almost 40-years, there has been a ban on federally funded abortions. Known as the Hyde Amendment, this legislative provision has been introduced every year since 1976 and blocks taxpayer dollars from being used to fund abortions.

The premise is simple: while the Supreme Court protected a woman's right to have an abortion, there is no Constitutional right to have taxpayers pay for it. In fact, when the Hyde Amendment was challenged in court (Harris v. McRae), the Supreme Court upheld the provision as being Constitutional.

Every year, the Hyde Amendment comes up for renewal. And every year, it is passed and signed into law.

But a minority of Congressmen are now threatening to filibuster the legislation in order to open up taxpayer money for abortions.

This is sickening.

Now, with some on the Left threatening to filibuster, the GOP is actually considering surrendering and allowing the Hyde Amendment to lapse.

This is NOT what the American people want! The fact that you and your colleagues are even considering taking my hard-earned tax money (or even worse, borrowing money from China) to fund other people's abortions is disgusting.

If you allow the Hyde Amendment to lapse, then don't even bother running for re-election. If you abandon 40 years of precedent to appeal to this fringe element, then you're done.
