Iran is racing towards a nuclear weapon. But the UN is refusing to re-impose sanctions unless Trump re-signs the unconstitutional treaty that Obama signed and surrenders our sovereignty to the United Nations again!
In 2015, the Obama administration agreed to terms on a nuclear agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Obama, like so many of his international agreements, structured this one to deliberately keep Congress out of the loop.
The Constitution requires that international treaties receive a two-thirds ratification vote in the Senate. Obama knew he didn't have the votes, so he instead crafted the agreement as a "political commitment." That allowed him to bypass Congress and use the United Nations as the body responsible for designing and implementing the terms of the nuclear agreement.
It was a terrible agreement. It allowed Iran to continue refining uranium, providing them with a "breakout time" of just a few months. That is the amount of time it would take Iran to build a nuclear bomb if they abandoned the agreement.
President Trump withdrew from the deal, demanding an agreement that prevented Iran from ever obtaining a nuclear weapon, not simply one that slowed them down. Iran responded by increasing its uranium production, moving even closer to a nuclear weapon. It is now estimated that they will have the capability to build a nuclear weapon in just a little over 3 months...
In the middle of all of this, Iran is still funding terrorists around the world. As recently as March, Iranian-backed militants killed two American soldiers and one British soldier. Iran is still launching attacks against United States forces and our allies.
So, the Trump administration has now moved to reimpose the sanctions that Barack Obama had agreed to lift. But the UN is refusing to do it... unless Trump signs back onto the Nuclear Deal and surrenders our sovereignty to them again...

The formal vote on Trump's sanctions resolution is this week, but Russia and China have already signalled that they intend to veto the resolution. They are refusing to reimpose sanctions on their ally, Iran.
The UN does not deny that Iran is racing towards a nuclear weapon. They do not deny that Iran continues to fund terror attacks against American soldiers and our allies. They don't deny any of it. They admit that Iran should have the sanctions reimposed. But the United Nations is still refusing to do it.
Unless, that is, the United States agrees to re-enter the failing Iran Nuclear Deal... If Trump re-enters the failed agreement, the UN says that he will have the power to force the reimposition of sanctions. But in order to do that, he has to sign away America's sovereignty and violate the same Treaty Clause of the Constitution that Obama ignored when he signed it the first time...
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said that if the vote goes against the United States this week, Trump may have no choice but to re-enter the nuclear deal and try to impose sanctions within that framework.
Iran is building a nuclear weapon. Iran is killing American soldiers. And yet, the only way to reimpose sanctions is to once again sign away our sovereignty to the United Nations?
No. Wait, let me think about that for a sec... NO!
Who do these United Nations bureaucrats think they are? The United States pays over 20% of the UN's operating budget. For every five d.ollars that the UN spends, one of them comes from us.
And this is what we get for our "generosity"... Another naked attempt to force us to relinquish our sovereignty...
The United Nations must be defunded NOW and the good news is, Congress is debating a bill that could do just that!

With everything going on in DC, it is easy to forget that Congress has to pass 12 appropriations bills by the end of next month, otherwise the government will shut down. One of those bills is called the State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act. This funds the State Department, which in turn funds the United Nations.
Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats want to increase the United Nations' funding. But Congressman Mike Rogers has another idea for the UN's funding: cut it all.
Rogers has reintroduced his bill, the American Sovereignty Restoration Act, and is pushing to get it included in the annual spending package. The bill is simple: all funding to the UN would immediately be cut off. Congress would be free to fund individual programs, like the UN's Children's Fund (UNICEF), but the UN would no longer receive a check for billions with no strings attached.
The UN would no longer be allowed to train their soldiers on US soil or issue any commands to American military personnel. United Nations officials living and working in the United States would also lose their diplomatic immunity. When they commit crimes on US soil, they would have to start answering for their actions.
We have been advocating for this for a while, but the UN's latest antics prove that we have no choice.
