Despite Nancy Pelosi's delays and stall tactics, the GOP worked as fast as possible to get relief to American small businesses. The Paycheck Protection Program was passed to provide emergency loans to small businesses. The idea was that if the small businesses agreed to keep their employees on the payroll, instead of laying them off, then the funding would become a grant and wouldn't need to get paid back.
In order to make sure that the funding went only to small businesses, the PPP was limited to companies with less than 500 employees. It was clear early on, however, that larger companies were taking advantage of loopholes to access the funding. Wealthy universities like Harvard and publicly traded companies like Shake Shack were shamed into giving back PPP funding that they never should have received.
The Trump administration responded by warning businesses to return any fraudulent acquired PPP funds. The 'deadline' for companies to do the right thing has now passed.
We now know that Planned Parenthood affiliates applied for, and received, more than 80 million in coronavirus relief funds.
This was illegal. Adding up all of Planned Parenthood's locations, the company has far more than 500 employees. Except, instead of applying as Planned Parenthood Federation of America (the nationwide organization), these abortion clinics applied for the funds as individual affiliates. At least 39 different Planned Parenthood locations used this loophole to fraudulent apply for the funding. Only one branch that was approved for the funding ended up turning it down. The other 38 clinics went through with the scheme and are refusing to give the funding back...
This wasn't a victimless crime. We know that when PPP funding ran out, countless American small businesses were forced to close their doors and declare bankruptcy as a result. Planned Parenthood stole 80 million from American small businesses and forced American workers onto the unemployment rolls as a result...
Twenty-six Republicans have now signed onto a letter demanding a full investigation into Planned Parenthood's crimes. But they need your help to get it off the ground!
When you look at the local banks serving small businesses, the average PPPloan is currently 58,000. The funding that Planned Parenthood stole would have helped keep over 1300 small businesses afloat.
Planned Parenthood is now fighting back, urging their Democrat allies to block an investigation into their crimes.
It is not debatable. What these Planned Parenthood affiliates did was illegal. They robbed legitimate small businesses of aid, ruining innocent lives in the process. Now that there is finally an investigation taking shape, Democrats are lining up to protect them.
