With all eyes on the coronavirus, it is not all that surprising that Leftists have tried to use this as an excuse to push through their long-desired agenda items. For one, they know that people aren't paying all that much attention to the inner workings of Congress. But secondly, they also know that these must-pass stimulus bills present an opportunity to push their proposals through without having to deal with a standalone vote.
Essentially, they believe they can work in secret and believe that they have enough leverage to demand their bills get passed even if their treachery does get discovered.
With the far left using the coronavirus as an excuse to push through things like foreign aid, abortion funding, and even illegal alien amnesty, it was only a matter of time before they used the pandemic as an excuse to target the 2nd Amendment.
Now, they are doing just that. Senator Richard Blumenthal just introduced a bill he is calling the Untraceable Firearms Act of 2020 (no bill number assigned yet). This legislation would add a background check requirement to firearm parts, making it illegal for anyone to build or repair a firearm without first notifying the Federal government and receiving permission.
After forcing gun stores to close, Leftists are angry that law-abiding gun owners got around their tyranny by building their own firearms at home. Now, Democrats want to eradicate this fundamental right!
Millions of law-abiding Americans have manufactured their own firearms, either from parts kits or from scratch. It is perfectly legal. We won the American Revolution, in part, because colonists knew how to repair and manufacture firearms. Without this DIY gunsmithing, the colonial army and militias wouldn't have had the firepower to defeat the British.
Now, Democrats are saying that Americans cannot be trusted with the right to build or repair their own firearms.
The Untraceable Firearms Act would require that Americans undergo a background check when they want to buy firearm parts. That means that after you have already passed a background check to own a gun, you would have to pass another check in order to repair or upgrade it...
This isn't about keeping the country safe. This is just a naked attempt to give the government more power and chip away at the 2nd Amendment.
We all know that the Left's ultimate goal is a universal gun registry, which could then be used to facilitate confiscation efforts. DIY and homemade firearms make that registry impossible. THAT is why the Left is doing this!
This is happening. The Left is pushing their new gun ban through and they are already picking up GOP support! Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) says that he believes the Democrats' new gun ban "makes sense." Others like Lindsey Graham (R-SC) have also voiced their support.
Democrats are now pushing for the next stimulus package to include this new gun ban. You CANNOT let that happen!
This would never pass as a standalone bill. Republicans, and even some Democrats, understand it would be political suicide to vote for a new gun ban.
Except, they aren't trying to pass this as a standalone... They want to sneak it into the next stimulus package.
They know that the only way to push through their new gun ban is to do it in secret. They know that if they can sneak this through, they will have a clear path towards their gun control endgame: registration and confiscation!
But now you know what they're doing. And with that knowledge comes a responsibility to act!
The Democrats are trying to use the pandemic to push through a new gun ban! You MUST stop them!
