The Defense Production Act gives the President the power to temporarily force manufacturers to stop what they're doing and instead produce the items and products that the country desperately needs during a time of crisis.

We've seen the Trump administration use the DPA to force GM to produce ventilators. FEMA has used the DPA to acquire masks.

But there is one shortage that Trump can use the DPA to solve right now.

Trump should force the New York Times to produce toilet paper.

In many ways, the New York Times already does. But the New York Times is uniquely positioned to produce toilet paper and help get the product back onto shelves.

Is this tongue and cheek? Sure. But the Left is calling on Trump to take a more active approach to the DPA, and this would certainly fit the bill.

The country would be much better off with the NY Times pumping out rolls of toilet paper instead of lies and fake news...
