After the first week of the impeachment trial, nothing has changed. The Democrats are still defending the weakest articles of impeachment ever written.
They have presented no evidence that Donald Trump broke the law. Instead, they have advanced their own subjective interpretation of otherwise legal Presidential actions. Point-by-point, Trump's legal team has picked apart every argument presented by the Democrats.
The first week has proven that these articles of impeachment never should have even reached the floor for a vote.
But Mitt Romney apparently has a different point of view. After watching this "Schiff Show," Romney has now officially come out in support of expanding the trial and subpoenaing additional Trump documents and witnesses.
Romney's hates the President so much, he is willing to hand control of the impeachment trial over to Chuck Schumer and the Democrats. Romney is also pressuring other Republicans to join him in stabbing the President in the back.
Not only that, but Schumer claims he has at least three other Republicans who have told him they are ready to flip. That would give the Democrats the four GOP votes needed to seize control!
In the House, Nancy Pelosi is excited. She is holding closed-door meetings with radicals like Maxine Waters to devise new impeachment articles to send to the Senate. She wants to drag this witch hunt on as long as possible to damage Trump going into the 2020 election.
While Romney is now the first GOPer to officially flip, there are other Republicans lining up behind him. At the front of the line is Susan Collins (ME). While she tried to walk back her position last week, Collins is still saying that she will "likely" vote with Democrats once the argument portion of the trial is over.
Next is Lisa Murkowski (AK). She votes with Democrats more often than any other moderate Republican. And the third GOP flip is reportedly Lamar Alexander (TN). He is retiring this year and feels he can vote with the Democrats without having to pay a political price.
Combined, these four GOP flips would give Democrats control of the trial process. They would be able to call additional Trump witnesses and seize even more documents. This would stretch the impeachment trial on for weeks, if not months.
But Schumer's ultimate plan is even more sinister. From the very beginning, Democrats have wanted the removal vote to be held by a secret ballot. That way, Republicans would be free to vote to remove Trump without fearing reprisals at the ballot box. With a secret ballot, no one would know how each Republican and Democrat voted...
That is the Left's goal. If they can get these four GOPers to flip, then they will have the votes to push it through!
There is only one reason this surrender hasn't already happened yet. These cowards still fear YOU!
They are first and foremost concerned with their own political survival. They will only vote to side with the Democrats and remove Trump if they think they can get away with it.
That is why it is so important for you to rise up and stop them!
Tomorrow, the Trump team will rest their case. Shortly thereafter, Schumer will be able to force a vote on his resolution to change the trial rules and subpoena additional witnesses and documents.
If four GOPers flip, then it is all over. There are no do-overs on this...
