All eyes are going to be on the impeachment vote in Congress this week. But while Democrats and Republicans stage a very public fight over impeachment, they have been quietly working behind closed doors on a spending package that would shut down all border wall construction.
Yes, it is that bad. If the deal that Democrats just struck with Republicans passes, President Trump would be blocked from building any new sections of the border wall. All current construction would immediately grind to a halt.
How are Democrats planning to do this? By weaponizing the spending process.
Congress must pass a government-wide spending package by the next Friday, otherwise the government will shut down. That gives Democrats leverage. Since they know Republicans are terrified of government shutdowns, they want to use that to pull the funding on the border wall project.
The Trump administration is about to hit a milestone. They are about to finish the 100th mile of new border wall. And over the next year, they plan to build another 400 miles.
But if this Democrat surrender plan passes, construction would permanently end. Their bill would make it illegal to spend even a cent on border wall construction!
Most of the Republicans are cowards. They are so terrified of being blamed for a government shutdown that they are willing to cave and make it illegal for President Trump to build the wall.
The only reason that border wall construction is even ongoing is because President Trump signed an executive order this year declaring the unsecured border to be a national emergency. This allowed him to redirect Pentagon funds to fund the border wall instead.
The Democrats' plan is to undo that executive order and claw back the funding.
Their legislation is so radical that it would make it illegal for Trump to even repair sections of damaged existing fencing... It would block any Homeland Security or Pentagon funds from being used to build the wall.
And the Republicans are already admitting that they are ready to cave. GOP leadership announced this week that they will not allow the government to shut down, and warned Pres. Trump there would be 'consequences' if he vetoed their bill.
The GOP is actually threatening the President to accept defeat if they send him a bill outlawing border wall construction...
And by law, the surrender vote has to happen this week.
It really all comes down to this. With all eyes on impeachment, the GOP is hoping that they can slip a border wall surrender bill through without you noticing.
They are counting on you being so glued to your television screens, watching the impeachment vote, that you won't notice the anti-border wall amendments that Democrats snuck into Section 227 of the Homeland Security Appropriations Act and Section 2801 of the National Defense Authorization Act. That is how deep the Democrats have buried their anti-border wall amendments...
But now you know what the Left's plan is. And now you know that the GOP is planning the biggest border surrender ever. And with that knowledge comes a responsibility to fight back!
For the first time, we have a President who is actually willing to do whatever it takes to secure the border. This vote that Congress is holding this week? The history books are going to write about this moment.
