The United Nations' Paris Climate Treaty has always been about wealth redistribution. The idea was to force wealthy countries, like the United States, to pay so-called "climate reparations" to poorer countries around the globe.
The UN wanted to use your hard-earned taxd ollars to help so-called "developing" countries to advance their energy and industrial sectors to use cleaner technologies.
I use the word "developing" lightly because one of the top recipients of this aid would have been China.
Barack Obama signed the treaty without ever seeking the advice and consent of Congress as the Constitution requires. His signature was illegitimate. When Trump took office, he ordered the whole treaty to be scrapped. The EPA was ordered to stop implementing the treaty's terms and the State Department was barred from making any further donations to the UN's climate agency.
According to the terms Obama agreed to, Trump has to send the UN two notices before the withdrawal is complete. The first notice was sent in the beginning of November, officially beginning the formal withdrawal process. The second and final letter must be sent next November to finish it.
Pelosi, however, is promising the Far Left that she will protect Obama's legacy. Last week, Nancy Pelosi flew to Europe and personally promised UN officials that she will block Trump from withdrawing from the treaty that Obama signed!
Democrats are furious. Trump was never supposed to win. Barack Obama's legacy was supposed to be protected. But now, the clock is literally counting down. In just 11 short months, the unconstitutional UN climate treaty will be no more. All Trump has to do is send a single letter to the United Nations on November 4, 2020.
After meeting with UN officials in Madrid last week -- in clear defiance of the President and in violation of US law -- Nancy Pelosi returned to the United States with a plan. The Speaker of the House is now promising the radical Leftists in her party that she will stop Trump from sending the final withdrawal notice. And her plan would work.
Pelosi wants to use the power of the purse to make it illegal to spend even a cent of treasury funds or government employee man hours to deliver the final withdrawal notice. And she has tacked her amendment to a must-pass spending bill that Congress must pass by the end of next week.
The language in the provision is clear: "None of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available by this Act, or prior Acts making appropriations for the Department of State, foreign operations, and related programs, may be used to provide formal notification under Article 28 of the Paris Agreement of the withdrawal of the United States from such Agreement."
This one sentence would make it illegal for Pres. Trump to finish the withdrawal process. We would be stuck in a horrible treaty that Barack Obama illegally signed and that Congress never ratified.
And remember, the billions in donations that Obama promised but Trump shut down? Pelosi's provision would restart those donations too.
Barack Obama broke the law and violated the Constitution by signing a treaty without ever seeking the advice and consent of Congress. He ordered the Executive Branch to implement the treaty's terms anyway, forcing the United Nations' agenda onto the American people, and raided the Treasury to send the UN more than a billion.
When Trump ordered the implementation and donations to stop, Nancy Pelosi began a shadow diplomacy effort to coordinate directly with the United Nations to bypass President Trump entirely.
And now in the coming week, the Democrats are going to execute their final plan. They have hidden their amendment in the upcoming spending bill and are now pressuring Republicans to turn on the President and let it pass as-is.
Pelosi met with the United Nations on her own, committed treason by conspiring to help the UN raid the US Treasury, and is now advancing a bill to save Obama's treaty from being dismantled.
Poison-pill amendments like this routinely survive into the final versions of the annual spending package. When Congress is facing a funding deadline, neither party is willing to shut down the entire government over a single sentence in a 1000+ page bill.
If Democrats can get their amendment into the final bill, it will pass.
Right now, Democrats and Republicans are working together in a process known as reconciliation. Since the House and Senate bills are different, both sides must sit at a table and try to hammer out a compromise spending package. Pelosi and the Democrats have told the GOP that they will shut down the government if their UN treaty amendment is removed from the final bill.
Democrats are threatening a government shutdown unless Republicans agree to make Obama's unconstitutional treaty permanent... and they only need a couple of Republicans to flip!
We are going to keep pressuring Congress to hold Nancy Pelosi accountable for her crimes, which look more and more like treason and sedition. But right now, we MUST stop this amendment from becoming law!
The Democrats are literally trying to bypass the Constitution's treaty clause and surrender our sovereignty to the United Nations.
Please, before it is too late, help us fight back and stop them!
