Republican traitors are now lining up to help Pelosi give all Members of Congress a massive pay raise.

The base salary for Members of Congress is 174,000 a year, not even including all of the other perks, benefits, and reimbursements. Party leaders make even more.

Technically, Congress is only in session for about a third of the year. And this year, they aren't even working when they are in session. Only 20 bills have been signed into law in 2019. Based on historical trends, that number should be over a hundred at this point...

Instead of fixing this country's problems, Democrats in the House are launching even more investigations against the President. Tomorrow, the House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing called "Lessons from the Mueller Report: Presidential Obstruction and Other Crime." Their lead witness is John Dean, the White House Counsel to Richard Nixon. Democrats are hoping to use this testimony to launch their impeachment investigation against President Trump.

In the Senate, there are still 126 Executive Branch nominees and 67 judicial nominees waiting for their confirmation votes. There are judicial nominees who have been waiting over 400 days, 500 days, and even 600 days to receive a vote. So far this year, McConnell has confirmed only 30 Trump judges, averaging a pathetic 5 judicial confirmations a month. At this pace, President Trump will end his term and there will still be vacancies in the court.

And now, after this disgusting inaction, Republicans and Democrats want you to give them a raise...

Stop Congress from giving themselves a raise! Send your urgent FaxBlast to Congress right now and DEMAND that they pass the Fitzpatrick Amendment and block Pelosi's pay raise plan... or else!

Republicans and Democrats claim this raise is for "cost of living increases."

That's right, this is being pushed by both parties. Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wants it, but so do House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA).

They claim to have the votes to not only give them this instant raise, but to allow these raises to become automatic in the budget without even needing future votes...

The 2.6% raise was written into two laws going all the way back to 1946 and 1989. Congress voted in 2009 to freeze its pay increases for the next decade, but that provision is set to expire at the end of the year. This new pay raise is already written into US law. It is set to go into effect automatically.

Pelosi is rushing the Legislative Branch appropriations bill to the floor this week. If it passes as-written, then Congress would officially make three-times more than the average American, not even including all of their other benefits... Republicans and Democrats think that they have earned a raise. It is disgusting.

Luckily, a bipartisan group of Congressmen are fighting back. Reps. Jared Golden (D-ME) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) have introduced an amendment to block this pay raise from going through. The amendment -- which is just one sentence long -- states that "no adjustment shall be made under section 601(a) of the Legislative Reorganization Act of 1946 (relating to cost of living adjustments for Members of Congress) during the fiscal year 2020."

More Congressmen and Senators are now lining up to support this amendment. Vulnerable Democrats like Ben McAdams (UT), Joe Cunningham (SC), Angie Craig (MN), Cindy Axne (IA), Dean Phillips (MN) and Susie Lee (NV) realize that it is political suicide to allow this pay raise to go through. Republicans Jack Bergman (R-MI) and Scott Perry (R-PA) are also promising to vote for the amendment. Right now, there are actually more Democrats fighting to block this pay raise than Republicans.

The vote is this week. If Pelosi, McCarthy, Schumer, and McConnell can block these amendments, then they automatically get a pay raise. If the Amendment falls short on the votes, then the pay raise goes into effect.

You can stop this, but you have to fight back right now!

Stop Congress from giving themselves a raise! Send your urgent FaxBlast to Congress right now and DEMAND that they pass the Fitzpatrick Amendment and block Pelosi's pay raise plan... or else!

This is truly a bipartisan issue. Whether you are a Republican or Democrat reading this, whether you are a liberal or conservative, this isn't controversial.

Congress does not deserve a pay raise. They certainly don't deserve to make more than three-times the average American salary.

But unless you rise up right now, that is exactly what will happen.

Don't let them get away with this!

Stop Congress from giving themselves a raise! Send your urgent FaxBlast to Congress right now and DEMAND that they pass the Fitzpatrick Amendment and block Pelosi's pay raise plan... or else!

Please join the fight to stop this madness,

Joe Otto
