Judge Haywood Gilliam's radical decision comes the same day that the GOP struck a deal with Democrats to block Trump's border security funding.
Yesterday, Haywood Gilliam (shown above), an Obama-appointed Judge in California, issued an order blocking the Trump administration from using national emergency powers to build the border wall.
The decision immediately halts new border wall construction and leaves a huge swath of the border wide open.
We now have no choice. The only way to secure the border and build the wall is for Congress to approve the funding.
President Trump sent Congress a request for tens of billions to cover natural disaster aid and the humanitarian and security crisis at our southern border. Nancy Pelosi took that bill and stripped all of the border funding out.
Yesterday, she tried to push this clean emergency aid bill through without any of the President's border security funding requests. As we warned, the GOP had agreed to back down and give up on the border wall fight.
But one brave Congressman stood up yesterday and stopped the leadership from blocking the border funding!
Since most Congressmen and Senators were traveling back home for Memorial Day weekend, Pelosi tried to use a "unanimous consent" motion to pass the spending package without any members of Congress actually voting on it. Basically, she asked the empty House chamber if anyone objected to her plan to once again block border wall funding. If no one objected, then the measure would have passed without Congress actually voting.
The GOP used this strategy for years. They would wait until most Republicans were traveling back to their districts and then push through liberal spending bills. That way, they could pass Democrat bills without Republicans having to actually vote for it.
But Nancy Pelosi didn't get her way yesterday. Freshman Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX) stood up and bravely objected to the unanimous consent resolution. That means that in order to pass the 19.1 billion emergency aid bill, Congress will have to actually vote on it on Tuesday.
"This is a bill that includes nothing to address the clear national emergency and humanitarian crisis we face at our southern border," Roy declared. "We've got emergency requests right now from the administration."
Chip Roy, a brand new Congressman, stood up and demanded border wall and border security funding. The career politicians were just going to leave town and let Nancy Pelosi block border funding once again. Mitch McConnell struck a deal with Pelosi to strip out the border funding and the Senate voted 85-8 to ignore Trump's border request. The House Republican leadership left town and were going to let Pelosi just push this through.
But now, we have a second chance. Now, Congress will have to vote on this bill in just three days and those votes will be recorded!
The activist judges want to stop him from securing the border. Both Democrats and Republicans are refusing to authorize the border security funding. President Trump is out of options. He needs your help!
Please, don't let the Democrats and Republicans get away with this. Don't let these activist judges keep the border wide open.
