They actually did it. After weeks of coordinating behind the scenes, Republicans and Democrats have come to an agreement over a “compromise” gun confiscation bill.
The GOP wanted to unveil the package next week, but Democrats in the House jumped the gun and filed the bill. Now we know exactly what they’re going to try to push through. It is called the Jake Laird Act.
Like the other “Red Flag” proposals, it would give local police and prosecutors the power to target innocent people by confiscating their guns and suspending their 2nd Amendment Rights.
These are innocent people. They haven’t committed any crimes or been adjudicated mentally defective. However police would be able to suspend their gun rights for up to a year based on nothing but hearsay. If a family member, friend, or neighbor tells police they think a gun owner is dangerous, that would be enough.
And instead of “innocent until proven guilty,” it would be up to the disarmed innocent gun owner to convince a judge that he or she deserves their firearms back. If the judge isn't convinced, then the confiscation order extends to a year.
Democrats wanted this to be a national program. The “compromise” is that instead of one Federal program, the bill would require states to create 50 state-level disarmament programs. As if that is better...
And the GOP is rushing to sign on!
Before the package has even been assigned a bill number, Republicans are already signing on as co-sponsors. Immediately, Reps. Susan Brooks (R-IN) and Fred Upton (R-MI) signed on as lead co-sponsors. Dozens more are in the wings just waiting for the opportunity to sign away our rights.
In the Senate, Lindsey Graham (R-SC) says that he has enough Republicans on board to help the Left push their version through.
This is happening. The GOP leadership has already decided to sell out American gun owners. They claim they have the votes, but only just barely...
The only thing left is to decide if you are going to fight back!
Why is this happening? Republicans think they can get away with this. The GOP thinks they can pass the biggest gun confiscation bill ever without losing their power. They saw Democrats win dozens of seats last year and think they can hold onto their political power by pushing "reasonable" gun control.
It is up to you to prove them wrong.
The 2nd Amendment was written precisely because the Founders knew a day like this would come. They knew that it was only a matter of time before politicians tried to eliminate the basic human right to self-defense. They enshrined the right to keep and bear arms into the Constitution specifically to prevent government from ever trying to pass a bill like this.
This is the moment that the Founders feared.
But it is not too late to stop this. Republicans and Democrats are counting on the American people not paying attention. They are hoping that you don't see what they're doing.
