When Nancy Pelosi took over as Speaker of the House, she promised liberals that she would make amnesty for illegal aliens a priority. That is why the American Dream and Promise Act was assigned H.R.6 as a bill number. it was one of Pelosi's top ten bills that she wanted to pass.
The vote was supposed to be this week, originally scheduled for as early as tomorrow. However, moderate Democrats pumped the brakes. Dozens of Democrats are pressuring Pelosi to pull the bill because they say it is too radical!
The legislation, written by Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-CA), states that in order for an illegal alien to qualify for amnesty and a pathway to citizenship, they must show "good moral character." That means they cannot have ever been convicted of a felony. However, the legislation also says that an illegal alien can commit up to three misdemeanors before they are disqualified from the amnesty program and it excludes "minor traffic offenses."
Democrats are literally trying to give illegal alien criminals full amnesty and citizenship!
Just as a reminder, the Democrats' new version of the Violence Against Women Act would permanently suspend Americans' 2nd Amendment rights if they commit even just one non-violent misdemeanor like harassment. The Left's immigration bill, however, would allow illegal aliens to commit up to three misdemeanors before losing their pathway to citizenship.
Vehicular manslaughter can be a misdemeanor. Identity theft can be a misdemeanor. Assault with a deadly weapon, sexual assault/battery, and even assault against a child can be misdemeanors.
For years, leftist prosecutors have helped illegal aliens criminals plead down to misdemeanors to avoid deportation. Felony identity theft charges get pled down to misdemeanor crimes like "using forged identity papers." Felony hit and run charges get pled down to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. Drug dealers plead down to misdemeanor weapons charges. Even illegal aliens charged with attempted murder can see their charges reduced to misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.
The Democrats' amnesty bill, however, would allow all of these illegal alien criminals to get amnesty, become US citizens, and start legally voting in our elections. This is insane.
Luckily, dozens of moderate Democrats agree. They revolted and blocked the bill in committee because they know that it is political suicide to give citizenship to illegal aliens with criminal records. Pelosi and Schumer are now trying to negotiate with them to find common ground.
Now, more than ever, you MUST keep up the pressure!
This bill was supposed to easily pass through the House. But Republicans and Democrats are killing the Left's amnesty plan. Even the pro-Amnesty Republicans -- the ones who literally blocked border wall funding and voted for amnesty last year -- are terrified of voting for this monstrosity.
Freshman Democrats, who just barely beat Republicans in the last midterm election, know that if they vote to give citizenship to illegal alien criminals, their political careers are over.
You caused this! You put the fear of the electorate back into both political parties and stopped them from rushing this amnesty bill through.
Democrat leaders are scrambling to win back votes and piece together a coalition that can get the bill through.
Our Republic's future will be decided this week. You need to put the pressure on both parties in Congress right now!
