The synagogue shooting in California over the weekend could have been so much worse. The Rabbi reportedly asked a number of temple members to make sure they carried concealed weapons, just in case someone ever tried to shoot up the synagogue.
When 19-year-old John Earnest showed up to the Chabad of Poway Synagogue with a rifle, there was an armed worshipper ready to fire back. The armed man immediately handed over his pistol to an off-duty Border Patrol officer. Another unarmed worshipper helped chase the shooter out.
Tragically, one innocent woman lost her life. But had it not been for this one armed worshipper, there is no telling how large the death toll would have been.
Amazingly, gun control Democrats are completely ignoring the self-defense aspect of this story. Instead, they are demanding an immediate vote on their radical gun control package. They have been preparing for this for years, just waiting for an opportunity to politicize a high profile shooting.
They are making their push right now.
Leftists and Moderate Republicans are demanding a vote on a package that includes these bills:
1) Lindsey Graham's Extreme Risk Protection Order bill, giving police officers the power to confiscate gun collections and suspend Americans' 2nd Amendment rights without even charging them with a crime.
2) The Bipartisan Background Checks Act, a bill to give the government the power to require background checks on all firearm sales and transfers, paving the way for a nationwide gun owner registry.
3) The Enhanced Background Checks Act. Gun background checks are supposed to be instant (that's what the 'I' stands for in NICS). This bill would allow the FBI to delay background check approvals almost indefinitely, and prohibit purchasers from taking possession of their gun until the FBI approves them (which can take over a month under this bill).
4) Dianne Feinstein's Assault Weapon Ban. This radical bill would not only reinstate the ban from 1994, but would make it even stricter by banning any semi-automatic rifle or shotgun that is capable of being held in someone's hand.
5) A new bill to raise the minimum age to purchase a firearm. Dianne Feinstein is promising to release her new bill in time for the gun control vote, but she is promising legislation to raise the minimum age to purchase any firearm up to 21. Millions of American adults would instantly lose their self-defense rights.
This is what the Left is demanding. Republicans have promised to "compromise" and meet the Left in the middle on gun control.
If any one of these bills passes, it will do irreparable damage to your 2nd Amendment rights.
You CANNOT allow this to happen!
Have you watched the news reports coming out of Venezuela? The revolution to topple that country's socialist government is failing because strict gun control laws mean that only the police and military have access to weapons. Unarmed protesters are literally being run over by military vehicles in the streets.
Venezuela has no 2nd Amendment and they are paying the price for it. They allowed their government to revoke citizens' gun rights years ago and now they are trying desperately to take their country back.
The GOP leadership believes that the must "do something" on gun control. Lindsey Graham could have pushed through a Republican-sponsored gun control bill, but he is adamant the package have bipartisan support. The GOP is literally compromising with the Left on gun control. They are selling us out.
The Founding Fathers enshrined the right to keep and bear arms in the Constitution for a reason. Democrats want to eliminate those rights for a reason.
You must fight back against this treachery before there's nothing left to defend!
